They Speak German. They Carry Whips.

I was up in Boston at Readercon over the weekend and picked up this little beauty from a used book discount bin:

Nazi leprechauns in a castle. Lots of them! Wielding whips! From the author of The White Mountain, that YA sci fi book that was serialized as a comic strip in Boy’s Life, the Scouting magazine back when I was a kid:

Now comes this novel, described on the back cover as:

“The Little People – Elves? Demons? They speak German. They carry whips. And they are connected in some mysterious way with Nazi experiments carried out in the charming old Irish castle during World War II.”

I think that any Irish castle automatically loses charm points when it’s infested with Nazi Leprechaun vermin. The guy who sold it to me said that the cover didn’t even begin to do justice to the deranged narrative within. To hell with the new George RR Martin book…this is the must-read novel of the summer!
