On February 19, the world will change forever. For 2/19 is the day that you will meet Mofongo, the Genius Gorilla of Ghana, the Warrior of Wagadou, the Monster Who Shook the World, aka Professor Silverback, Professional Science Ape, and Eater of Europeans.
Mofongo will meet you in a story I wrote called “Mofongo Knows.” This story can be found inside the pages of the John Joseph Adams-edited anthology The Mad Scientist’s Guide To World Domination. John Joseph Adams, as you may already know, is the anthology editor with the hot leather pants that almost seem to be a part of his body who is best known both for his healing touch and his beautiful soul. I’ve seen his soul and it is, indeed, like a glowing beam of rainbow-colored light.
I originally wrote “Mofongo Knows” when I went to Clarion back in 2009 and since then both Paul Park and Liz Hand have helped edit it. Then it passed into John’s sensitive hands. This story has had more fiction technicians working on it than the Bionic Man, and so it is guaranteed to slide into your eyes smoothly and with ease, releasing a narcotic chemical in your brain area called “pleasure.”
